Basketball Clinics

We will be holding 2 weeks of Basketball Skills Clinics for players ages K-2nd & 3rd-5th. All Clinics are Co-ed and are designed to enhance your players skills. You can sign your child up for one or two week of clinics! Space will be very very limited to ONLY 10 players per age group, per session.

NPSC will run the following sessions: 

Session 1: November 9th & November 11th
  • Beginning Basketball Clinics  - Grades K-2nd -5:30 PM-6:45 PM
  • Skills and Drills Clinics - Grades 3rd-5th - 7 PM - 8:15 PM

Session 2: November 16th & November 18th
  • Beginning Basketball Clinics  - Grades K-2nd - 2nd -5:30 PM-6:45 PM
  • Skills and Drills Clinics - Grades 3rd-5th - 7 PM - 8:15 PM

All clinics will be held at the NPSC gym located at 365 West Shirley Ave in Warrenton

Beginning Basketball Clinics

NPSC's Winter Beginners Basketball Clinics will focus on individualized drills for skill development. Emphasis will be placed on ball-handling, moving without the ball, individualized offensive scoring moves, passing, and becoming a better shooter through proper form and mechanics. Players will also learn concepts for being more effective and how to contribute to their team in multiple ways. Each session will be designed to advance each player’s overall basketball understanding and build positive habits that lead to more efficient play on the basketball court.

Skills and Drills Clinics

NPSC's Skills and Drills Basketball Clinics will focus on progressive skill development designed to build positive habits on the basketball court. Emphasis will be placed on effective ball handling, moving without the ball to get open through using screens and effective cutting, perfecting offensive scoring moves, proper shooting form and mechanics, making smart decisions with and without the basketball, and improving and developing a defensive mindset. Players will also learn concepts for being more effective and how to contribute to their team in multiple ways. Each session will be designed to advance each player’s overall basketball understanding and build positive habits that lead to more efficient play on the basketball court.

Trainer

Dr. Brian Freeland is currently the Dean of Health Sciences at American Public University System, a 100% online university. Brian was a Program Director for degree programs in sports and health sciences and sports management for seven years prior to becoming the school dean. During that time, Brian managed and taught courses in coaching, sports administration and leadership, and sports training and conditioning. Brian has an Ed.D. in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University, a Master's in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy, and a BS in Health and Physical Education from Radford University.



Brian coached high school basketball for 10 years in the state of Virginia. He spent time as an assistant boy's varsity basketball coach at Altavista High School, Floyd County High School, and Magna Vista High School. As a head varsity boy's basketball coach, Brian led Lynchburg Christian Academy to their highest win total in 2000-2001 and was named Valley District Coach of the Year in 2005-2006 for leading Rockbridge County High School to their highest win total.
