Flag Football

Northern Piedmont Sports Club is excited to partner with Fauquier Youth Flag Football and NFL Flag Football to continue to bring Flag football to the area.  Our Flag football program offers offer inclusivity, promotes fitness, teaches teamwork, instills sportsmanship, and build confidence.  Flag football is a great sport for boys and girls of all ages. We do not have any height or weight restrictions making this a game everybody can play.

NPSC's Spring Flag Football league is open to boys and girls ages 4 -16.

Age Divisions: 
Instructional-       4-5
Rookie-               6-7
Pee Wee-           8-9
Junior-               10-11
Senior-              12-13
Super Senior-   14-16

The player's age is determined by January 1 of the current season.
Players can only move up to the next division if their birthday is within the current playing season to be eligible for the next division(Jan 2-May 31) and a play up request form is filled out and emailed to [email protected] No player can move down.

We limit teams to 10 players (14 for Super Seniors). We play 5 on 5  (7 0n 7 for Super Seniors) with every child guaranteed a starting position. We do not allow intentional contact.


All teams for our Spring Season are drafted by coaches.  We cannot accommodate requests for specific teams, teammates, coaches, or practice nights.

Games will be played on Saturday's held at the Central Sports Complex in Warrenton. If we need to use Sundays for make-up games, they will be playing after 12:00.
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 6 games with referees. Teams who qualify will play in play off's/championship games.

All team names are subject to change until the jersey orders have been finalized.  Any team names changes will be announced.

Draft

NPSC will use a draft to place players onto teams. All players must attend evaluations so Coaches can have the best information to draft teams. 

Note, instructional teams will not be selected through a draft but will be hat picked as this division is not competitive. 

Head coaches must select their 1st assistant coach no later than February 15 or they will have to wait until after the draft to select an assistant. This person must be registered in our system and have a completed safe sport training by the 15th in order to qualify as an assistant. 

At evaluations players will be assigned a number. They will be required to wear this number for the entire evaluation. Coaches will evaluate players based on the following criteria.

Throwing Drills
Receiving Drills

Age Divisions: 
Rookie-               6-7
Pee Wee-           8-9
Junior-               10-11
Senior-              12-13
Super Senior-   14-17

()NPSC will not accept any request to play with friends, coaches, or carpools due to the draft. 

Any players who do not attend the evaluations will be placed onto teams by a hat pick.

Once a player has been assigned to a team NPSC will not move players around.

Play Off's

Teams in the Rookie division and older will participate in play off's and championship games. 

Format: 

For divisions with 8 or more teams the top 6 teams will advance to the play off's. Teams may play two games play off weekend. 
Based on the standings

4v5 
 1st and 2nd will have a bye for the first round. Winners of the two first games will play 1st and 2nd. Winners will then advance to the Championship games. 

For divisions with less then 8 teams the top 4 teams will advance to the play off's. 
Based on the standings 
1v4
2v3 
 Winners will then advance to the Championship games.

Equipment



Required Equipment for practices and games: 
  • Mouthguard - Must be colored, players will not be allowed to play with clear mouthguards. 
  • Black NPSC shorts with no pockets
  • Football Cleats
  • Jerseys for game day
  • Waterbottle
Optional equipment:
  • Football gloves

Practices

Practices for the Rookie division and older are 2 times per week in preseason and then 1 time per week during the season between the hours of 5-8pm w/no practice exceeding 2 hours. Practice can be less than 2 hours per practice. The head coach will determine what days/times/and location the practices will be on. 

Instructional teams will practice once a week for 45 minutes to an hour each session. 

Practice fields will be county fields around Fauquier Country. 

Field Sizes

The fields are 50 yards long by 30 yards wide (instructional and rookie fields are 40 yards long by 25 yards wide and Super Seniors play on 100-yard field)). The games are 40 minutes long-two 20-minute halves with a ten-minute half time. The games are played with a running clock.
